From the Jaal Leaf Lace design
Jaal Leaf Lace
Jaal is the carved stone lattice of Mughal windows, where light falls through in patterns. This placemat borrows the idea: gilded leaves rest on a fine openwork net, and the table beneath shows through. Dark marble or walnut becomes part of the design.
