Why we pack in paper

Our kraft mailer, what it replaces, and how to recycle or reuse it.

2 min read

Our placemats and runners are packed in kraft paper mailers, printed with the North India Company crest in a single ink. Here is why, and what to do with the mailer once it arrives.

Why paper

Paper is recycled widely, and a kraft mailer can go in with your household paper and card in most areas. It also feels right: opening a paper mailer with a crest on the front is closer to unwrapping a gift than tearing into plastic.

How to recycle it

Remove any shipping labels you can, flatten the mailer and put it in your paper recycling. Local rules vary, so check with your municipality if you are unsure.

How to reuse it

The mailer is sturdy enough for a second life: as gift wrap, as a sleeve for documents, or as a paper bag for your next parcel.

What we're honest about

Our placemats and runners are vinyl, and we don't call them eco-friendly. What we can say is that they are made to be used for years, and they never need a washing machine, dryer or iron. You can read more on our sustainability page.
